Biasitis
Abstract
This white paper explores the pervasive issue of biases in institutional settings, using a seemingly simple question as a case study to highlight the complexities and implications of such biases. It provides a comprehensive analysis of how biases can influence decision-making, organizational culture, and scientific inquiry. Through the lens of Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory, this paper emphasizes the importance of critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, and inclusivity in mitigating biases. Drawing on insights from pre-2023 interdisciplinary research, it offers strategies for addressing biases and calls for a compassionate, interdisciplinary approach to support stakeholders in creating equitable and innovative environments.
